I was a website copywriter, brand voice strategist, and business partner to incredible designers for nearly a decade. If I learned anything during that time, it’s that one of the things we business owners want is a business that looks amazing. We want our businesses to be sexy. We want people to want them.
That’s us being really typically human. Humans like beautiful things.
And – when I asked you if your business is sexy, the answer I REALLY REALLY want for you is… NO. No, it’s not.
I want you to tell me:
“Helen, my business is stable, patient, nurturing, and easy”
What happens however, is we get caught up fixing how our business LOOKS without actually working on the stuff that matters. Because yes, a sexy business attracts clients. But do you have a way to support that growth?
- Do you have a clear understanding of how you get your people from problem to solution?
- Are you attracting the right clients (or energy vampires)?
- Are your offers aligned with what they need AND your own real human needs/limitations?
- Does your copy and bio match all of that goodness?
Listen, you’re going to have a lot of emails come through this week and next with sales for Black Friday or Small Business Saturday or Cyber Monday. As they come in, ask if this will help your business in the long run. Or is it another beautiful bandaid over top of the stuff you really need to be working on?
Once your foundations are stable. Once you have all those strong pieces in place. Once you know what you’re talking about and you can lean into that with confidence and clarity…
Well, it’s easy to make it sexy.
